A Diet That Works – part 7

The key to a good diet and workout is consistency. Just like a physical workout, the more you remain faithful to your spiritual workout, the better results you will see!

#1 Solitude – Spend time alone to be with God.
#2 Silence – Remove noisy distractions to hear from God.
#3 Fasting – Skip a meal(s) to find greater nourishment form God.
#4 Live with Less – Learn to live with less money and still meet your basic needs.
#5 Secrecy - Avoid self-promotion, practice serving God without others knowing.
#6 Sacrifice – Giving of our resources beyond what seems reasonable to remind us of our dependence on Christ.

#7 Study - Spend time reading the Scriptures and meditating on its meaning and importance to our lives.

We are nourished by the Word because it is our source of spiritual strength. Choose a time and a place to feed from the Word of God regularly. It might mean that you get up in the morning 30 minutes early, or go to bed at night 30 minutes later. But in just one year, you would have spent 182 hours and 30 minutes studying the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

The Point Is: Let God’s Word be the first and final Word in all you say and do.

Prayer: “God, help me this week to guard my time of fellowship with You, and purpose to invest my time in Your Word and in prayer.”
