Jim has served as the Dean of the SoCal School of Ministry since its founding in May 2009. He and his wife, Karla, are nationally appointed AGUS missionaries.
Jim was born in Tanta, Egypt while his parents were missionaries there. He graduated from Vanguard University in 1973 with a B.A. in Science and married Karla in 1974. He has completed graduate studies in religion at Vanguard University as well. He was ordained to the ministry in 1980.
Jim and Karla pastored the Christian Center of Desert Hot Springs, California prior to becoming Assemblies of God World missionaries to the Kingdom of Thailand. They served as missionaries to Thailand from 1982 to 1997.
In 1997 they transferred to Assemblies of God U.S. Missions and served as the Directors of Intercultural Ministry for the SoCal Network Assemblies of God until 2009. During their tenure as the Directors of Intercultural Ministry they worked with over 20 different ethnic groups in Southern California. Their job included facilitating ethnic church planting, mentoring pastors, assisting ethnic churches relate to the SoCal Network, and training workers. While serving as the Directors of Intercultural Ministry they saw the number of Filipino churches increase from 13 churches to over 25 churches.
Jim and Karla are the parents of seven children, three of whom are credentialed ministers, and four grandchildren.
