What is it?

Welcome!

The SoCal School of Ministry could be an answer to your prayers.

The mission of the SoCal School of Ministry is to assist people in exploring and preparing for the ministry to which God has called them in an easily accessible manner.

We can help accelerate your journey toward obtaining ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God. We offer all required courses to be a Certified, Licensed, or Ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in English and Spanish in various locations each month throughout Southern California. For information and schedules for the Spanish School of Ministry (Escuela de Ministerio), click here.

Additionally, studying in the SoCal School of Ministry could assist in obtaining a B.A. or an M.A. in Religion as our courses (along with A/G ministerial credentials) are transferable to Vanguard University. Please refer to the statement of the SoCal School of Ministry/Vanguard University Partnership for more information.

For those pursuing Certified, License, or Ordination Credentials, classes are offered throughout the month:

English:
1st weekend: Santa Maria and Visalia
2nd weekend: San Diego and Colton
3rd weekend: Orange County (SoCal Network A/G campus)
Tuesday Nights: Whittier
Spanish:
Classes are offered one Saturday a month at the Orange County and Santa Maria Campuses.

Why Is It Important?

The SoCal School of Ministry comes out of the vision to raise up a generation of ministers ready to take the Gospel to today’s world. We realize that in order to accomplish this, we need an approach that is big enough and broad enough to impact a diverse group of individuals. We also need a system that will allow those already in ministry to move forward and continue their credential process all the way through ordination.

We believe that this will be a great resource for those who can’t go away to college, for those who already are in the middle of life, for those making a mid-life career change, or for those already in ministry who need to move towards ordination.

If you’re looking for spiritual formation in an environment that respects your responsibilities and current ministry involvement, consider us. If you want to influence, impact, inspire, and change the world in God’s power, please join us!

It’s convenient. Register for the class you would like to take. Attend the class on the days for which it is scheduled. Go home, read the textbook, take an open book test, and return it to Network Campus. That’s it! You will have completed a required course for Assemblies of God ministerial credentials.

How Much Does It Cost?

$50.00 – A one-time student enrollment fee.
$129.00 – Per class which includes textbook, testing and all other fees and costs.
$16.00 – Late fee per class if registering after the pre-registration cutoff.*
$50.00 – Per class if you simply desire to audit.
$20.00 – Per class if you desire to audit the class and are currently an Ordained minister.

*Registration fees are due two weeks prior to the first day of class. Any registration after that deadline will be subject to an additional fee of $16.00 per class for a total of $145.00.

Requests for refunds for any fees paid will be subject to the SoCal School of Ministry refund policy.

Will It Make A Difference?

Regardless of whether you are pursuing your Certified credential, your License, or even your Ordination, there will be classes available for you to continue that journey. Just being IN ministry is not enough. We want to show ourselves as people who are learners and people who value the incredible call that God has placed on our lives for ministry.

Ordination Investment

Upon entering the SoCal School of Ministry, our goal is to have you move forward and complete the Ordination process. Moving to the place of Ordination is so vital that we, as a Network, want to be a part of that investment in you. We believe this education will not only benefit you, but it will benefit the local church, our network and the church at large. As an investment policy within our School, we will refund to you all SoCal School of Ministry registration fees that you have incurred while in the SoCal School of Ministry, once you complete your schooling and move forward and are approved for Ordination within the SoCal Network Office.

Disclaimer: Completing the SoCal School of Ministry is not a guarantee that you will receive your Ordination with the Assemblies of God. You must still go through the process required for approval.

Transfer Credit to Vanguard University

Vanguard University (VUSC) is willing to award academic credit upon completion of study in the SoCal School of Ministry along with the awarding of ministerial credentials in two different academic programs:

  1. Master of Theological Studies - SoCal School of Ministry courses will meet the pre-requisite required religion courses for entry into the VUSC Graduate Program in Religion.
  2. School of Professional Studies – VUSC will award up to 27 units of academic credit toward a B.A. degree in Vanguard University’s School of Professional Studies (nine per credential level) upon successful completion of the prescribed course of study at the SoCal School of Ministry and the conferment of the corresponding ministerial credential by the General Council of the Assembies of God.
