New You For A New Year
Happy New Year! It seems that at this time each year, we begin to reevaluate what’s going on in our lives. A lot of times, we want to set a new direction for where we see ourselves in 1, 5 or even 10 years. We go on diets, begin exercising and set new goals. But is that how real change happens?
Observations on how to have a new you for the New Year:
1. Remember that permanent change is inward; temporary change is outward.
If we are going to be the person that God wants us to be, we need to understand that real change that is lasting and for eternity is inward. Outward change is just for a few short years, and it’s amazing on how much time and money we spend on the outward…and how little we spend on the inward. Attitude, positive outlook on life and commitment to Christ are all inward changes.
Matthew 6:33 (NIV) - “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Here’s the point: “It’s the inward part of us that really makes the difference concerning all that which happens outwardly to us.”
