What is the content of prayer?

1.  Pray to be filled with power.

2.  Pray to have patience.

Let’s look at the content of a prayer from Colossians 10:11-12.  Pray for (1) understanding of God’s will; (2) gain spiritual wisdom, (3) live lives pleasing and honoring to God; (4) do kind things to others; (5) know God better and better; (6) be filled with God’s strength; (7) endure in faith; (8) stay full of Christ’s joy, and (9) always be thankful.

Colossians 1:9-12 (NIV)

“...We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.”

The point is:  Having the right characteristics and content of prayer always produce the right conclusion - great joy!

Prayer:  “Lord, if I could see the future, it would be easy to have hope.  Remind me, today, that real hope is when I can’t see the end of the road, but still trust You to lead me there.  Give me the patience and joy I need for my journey today.
