Men’s Ministries
One of the greatest passions of my life is for Men’s Ministry. While pastoring San Jacinto Assembly, the growth of our church was largely built on a strong Men’s Ministry, reaching not only men in our church but those in our community as well. Men discipling men, one on one accountability, events that men love to attend, and working to make marriages strong by developing men individually – all key components of a strong Men’s Ministries.
The dictionary describes vision as a dream, a mental picture, or something amazingly beautiful. Now, as ministry leader for SoCal Men’s Ministries, my vision is to see Men’s Ministries grow at our local churches in significant ways, impacting communities, and reaching men, and ultimately families, for God.
Several months ago I met with the Men’s Committee, comprised of pastors and laypeople from all areas of our district – north toward Fresno, south to San Diego, and all in between. We sat together and dreamed, strategizing about our vision for the future. That vision came back to one place – how do we empower men in the local church? We felt that our vision moved us away from a “district” camp once a year to empowering local churches to come together in sections to do men’s conferences. This will provide avenues where our churches can come together, not only to be encouraged and inspired, but also open doors for ministry in our communities together.
Two other strategic parts of our vision includes leadership training which will roll out the end of the year as well as a renewed vision for Light for the Lost. Jason Frenn is working with us to put a fresh face on Light for the Lost.
Listed below are the sections who have already planned a Men’s Conference for this fall. I encourage you to plug in to one of these conferences, meet new friends, and find ways to impact your community. If you have a men’s conference scheduled, send us the information and we’ll be happy to post it here for you.
I am here to serve you in any way possible. Feel free to be in touch with me to discuss your Men’s Ministry (ghouston@me.com or 949-252-8400).
