Friends, there is a lie that quietly settles into the hearts of many as the years go by—the lie that usefulness has an expiration date… that calling has a shelf life… that the most meaningful days are behind us.

But that is not the voice of God, as the Kingdom of God does not operate on the world’s timeline.

In God’s economy, the second half is not about decline—it is about deployment. Scripture is filled with men and women who stepped into some of their greatest Kingdom impact later in life. Their strength may have shifted, but their calling had not diminished. If anything, it had deepened.

• Moses was 80 years old when God called him at the burning bush (Ex. 7:7)

• Caleb was 85 when he said, “Give me this mountain” (Joshua 14:10-12)

• Anna the prophetess served faithfully into advanced age (Luke 2:36-37)

These individuals were not exceptions they are patterns for us.

Second Wind Ministry is not a ministry of retreat—it is a ministry of renewed strength, purpose, impact and mission; it is not about winding down—it is about leaning into what God still desires to accomplish through surrendered lives.

Second Wind Ministry is driven by three convictions:

• We are called to serve, not to be served
• We are blessed to be a blessing
• We are sent, regardless our stage of life.

Second Wind Ministries exists to encourage, strengthen, and connect older adults as we continue to grow spiritually, serve faithfully, and live purposefully during the second half of life. This ministry reminds every older adult (55+) that God’s calling, usefulness, and love never expire.

“They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.” (Psalm 92:14)

WHY THIS MINISTRY MATTERS

Spiritual Encouragement: Older adults need ongoing spiritual support, discipleship, prayer, and fellowship as they navigate changing seasons of life.
Purpose and Meaning: Many older adults wrestle with loneliness, retirement transitions, grief, or isolation. This ministry helps reaffirm that their lives still carry eternal purpose.
Wisdom for the Next Generation: Older adults possess invaluable wisdom, experience, and testimonies that can strengthen younger generations and the church family.
Healthy Community: Meaningful friendships and Christ-centered relationships improve emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Continued Service: The Kingdom of God still needs faithful servants who can mentor, pray, encourage, teach, and support ministry efforts.

The national office for Assemblies of God Senior Adult Ministries is a great resource. Primeline is full of helpful tips, resources, articles and links dealing with ministry, health, finances and practical living for today's seniors.

Young Enough to Serve

With intergenerational collaboration, Young Enough to Serve helps churches and ministries engage adults over fifty in serving and disciple-making.

RV-Volunteers

RV-Volunteers are Assemblies of God men and women who travel in their Recreational Vehicles, at their own expense, usually parking their rigs on the job site, and provide construction, support and/or evangelism ministry to a local church or other Assembly of God ministry.

50 Alive offers such things as a Study Book about issues and inspiration for those in the Second Half of Life, a Music CD for small groups, and a CD Teaching Series on how to develop a ministry for those who are 50 Plus.
