The Presence: 21 Day Devotional: Day 19

DAY #19

Key Verse:
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6-7  NIV
Extended Text:
Colossians 2:6-15
Reflection:
My wife and I planted an apple tree, with the hopes and aspirations of one day being able to make apple pie. Knowing those dreams would have to wait three years, we planted and waited. After three years of watering and nurturing, we had one tiny apple (that a bird ruined) and a dying tree. We couldn’t understand what was going on. When the tree died, I dug down to the root and found the issue, “Ants!” We watered and nurtured but failed to protect the roots and those little demons killed our tree.

It’s no secret that the devil doesn’t want you to thrive. When you allow the little issues to remain buried, they will destroy your life. In Colossians 2:6–7, Paul tells us to continually live your life rooted in Jesus, allowing Him to build you up, strengthened in the faith that is established in Him, and completing the maturing process with an overflowing harvest of thankfulness.

What little issues are keeping you from thriving in Jesus? Surrender them to Him, continue to be rooted in His Word and presence, and you will thrive.
3 Questions To Consider:
  1. What little issues are keeping you from thriving in Jesus?
  2. Will you allow them to remain buried or let God expose what keeping you from thriving?
  3. As you spend time in His Word and presence, will you be rooted in Jesus and protect your life against the little things that seek to destroy it?
